Dr. Moore is part of a choir of staff and residents at Southminster. After a visit by the Aldersgate choir to Southminster, the “Southminster Voices of Experience” directed by Bob Edgerton visited Aldersgate April 9 with its “Yesterday, when I was … Young!” concert.
Below is an excerpt from the group’s finale, “Ain’t Got Time to Die” with solo by soprano Renee Crawford. The spiritual was written by Hall Johnson (1888-1970), a professional violinist who later turned to choral music and wrote this in 1949 about spirituals:
“True enough, this music was transmitted to us through humble channels, but its source is that of all great art everywhere – the unquenchable, divinely human longing for a perfect realization of life….”
