On Feb. 3, Pete Nagle announced to a table of friends, “Thomas is my best friend!” Six days later, Nagle was gone.
Peter Reid Nagle died unexpectedly on Feb. 9. Friends and family held a celebration of his life on Feb. 12. Pictures show the two longtime friends in a photo taken earlier this year in the Mountain Magnolia Inn kitchen in Hot Springs and, below that, scenes from the celebration of Nagle’s life held Feb. 12.
“I am overwhelmed by feelings of thanks to God for the life of my friend Pete Nagle,” Dr. Moore wrote his Facebook friends on March 8. “During my sharing at his service in Hot Springs, NC, I invited the children to join me in a song. Then I invited some special adults, Pete’s daughters, Dana and Jenna, along with three of their childhood friends, Meg, Julie and Carrie. We all sang my song, “I Am Special”….
“During their elementary and teen years, these five young ladies sang on my recordings and assisted me in hosting and entertaining at my Annual New Year’s Eve Shows for Children and Families.
“Now, at this Hot Springs communitywide service which included many of his Charlotte (NC) friends, we sang a joyful song in celebration of the life of Pete Nagle, father of Dana and Jenna and a special friend to us all.”
Dr. Moore says he and Nagle knew one another for 38 years.
